The Home Office are responsible for passports and immigration (e.g. people who have come to Britain with a legal passport), drug policy (illegal drugs brought into the country), crime and counter terrorism 'political or military activities designed to prevent or thwart terrorism' (google definitions)
The Serious Fraud Office Are responsible for prosecuting serious or/and difficult fraud cases.
The Courts this is where the trails are held or a case. It is where the judge decides whether to punish or not the person prosecuted. this is also where the crown prosecution service comes in. It is important that the judge decision is not influenced by anyone or is not biased that is the reason why the CPS is a independent service.
The Police During a investigation of a crime the role of the police is to protect the evidence by blocking off the area of the crime as well as the area around it and arresting anyone who was or is suspected to be involved in a case. However, during in less complex cases the police has the decision to act upon the case for example whether or whether not to caution them. The police can issue one with a fix penalty or for a conditional caution they seek help or refer to the Crown Prosecution service. Apart from this they do not take any major action. All together in England and Wales there are currently 43 police forces involved or responsible for the investigation of a
crime.
The National Offender Management Service are responsible to make sure people attend probation so that the person convicted of a crime is under the watchful eye so that the service can help them to mentally fight the cause of what lead them to do the crime in the start or offending/offense behavior. The service also ensue that the sentence of the court is correctly carried out for example if someone is told they will be going to prison it is the job of the service to ensure they complete their period in jail.
Medical examiner- Before the Medical examiner shows up to the science, forensic photography done by the Crime Scene Examiner (however on other occasions the DNA, Finger print teams also are known to take the all important pictures, because it is a way to preserve the evidence) and the area should be secured by the police forces. Once the ME arrives the forensic photography can continuous taking pictures of the body or closer areas where the body lay for evidence. The ME will then check if the body is still alive if it is not they will determine the death time and possible the course of the death. Before the body is removed it is covered up to preserve any fingerprints which could be crucial to find the person responsible and is placed into a body bag. Another job of the Medical Examiner is that they can be responsible for body autopsy
Forensic Investigator- A forensic investigator requires a load of years of education and experience to be the best. The investigator has the job of sketching the science this includes any bodies, or any other evidence which could help solve the case. this helps the investigation understand what type of crime it was e.g. murder or theft. After completing that stage they have to physically collect other evidence (using protective suits so that nothing become contaminated) which could be connected to the case. Further investigations require DNA evidence, Fingerprint evidence, fibres of clothing or other materials and microscopic evidence.
Chemist is responsible for any chemicals found during the investigation. They will use their knowledge and equipment to name the chemical and how it could have been used before or after the crime.
anthropologists - They focus on any bodies which could have been involved in the crime by giving a gender, age and the victims background by studying the bones.
Toxicologist - looks and poisons for example if one has been poisoned the toxicologist can determine what the poison was.
Fingerprint expert - can find a match in finger prints to determine people involved in the crime- study of finger prints
DNA analyst - DNA analyst uses DNA collected from the scene to track down suspects or victims.
Lab technician - has the role to examine the blood send to the lab from a crime scene and other body samples such as urine.
