Teens act different when they are around their peers and when they are with their family. In the book, The Round House Joe, the main character of the story, experiences challenges in his life that forces him to act appropriately especially when he’s with his family. Joe is only thirteen years old, he displays immature and mature actions that any teen would normally act. When he’s with his friends (Cappy, Zack, and Angus), he doesn’t think before he does his actions, and he will only understand what he did wrong until it’s too late. For example, Joe and his friends went to the Round House where his mother was raped and they saw all the evidence, but ends up destroying it by drinking the beer in the cooler and crawling on top of the things that’s on the floor. It was too late for Joe to realize that those piece of evidence that he and his friends destroyed can be used in order to find the criminal that raped his mother.
