Abba’s music has great affect among the refugees as they gather in close and listen because this music creates a cheerfulness type of feeling, which Najaf and the other refugees have felt because they are in a place that seems to experience not a lot of happiness. ‘’With his music, Abbas restores some peace in a place where people sorely need relief from worry.’’

What the simile shows how both parties in Afghanistan would not gain anything at the end of the match but only that they would have caused harm to the other party. Then Najaf states that at the end of the war Afghanistan would only be a wasteland. ‘’How could I, or how could anyone believe that these people were thinking of the good of the country?’’

When Najaf and Nemat first hear the news at three o’clock in the morning that they are granted visa’s and are able to live in Australia both Najaf and Nemat were dancing in joy but then the security officer had made a mistake and Najaf was furious. After the security officer had got it wrong the first time he had doubt when the second time he had told them that they both had been granted visa’s then eventually they both understood there visa had came but they didn’t want to be too excited just in case there is another mistake.

1. The bread represents something that can provide meaning that it symbolizes a wife that can help you sustain yourself throughout the years. The strawberry represents something sweet that ends soon which is choosing a wife based on love. Najaf tries to explain that in a land like Afghanistan it is wise to choose a wife than can help you sustain yourself and your family for years over a wife you love because your love doesn’t always last
