the environment of their classrooms to enhance a student's performance. All to which lead towards the benefit or well-being of a student. Anaheim High School should employ more discipline to students to teach them the full value of success by using strategies like SLANT, which KIPP schools use to discipline students according to Margaritas Bargain by Malcolm Gladwell. Discipline is a factor that is required for the success of a student or anyone in general because in my opinion, it forces one to value what is difficult and hard to work for. According to Margaritas Bargain by Malcolm Gladwell, students in KIPP schools are given certain “protocols such as SLANT, like stated before, which stands for Smile, Sit up, Listen, Ask questions, Nod when spoken to, Track with eyes” (Gladwell 4). In other words, schools are possessing various types of tactics such as “SLANT”, for example, to enhance the discipline level students because it will help the students obtain skills for success. These kinds of acts can certainly be of significant impact on the success of students in regards to the changes needed in Anaheim high school because it will increase student success in the school by having more disciplined and mature students. Margaritas Bargain suggests students to be successful through being disciplined however, I think as students are induced to a greater amount of discipline, students seem to be kept in school for a longer period of time, and under those circumstances, the state of “over-studying” can affect a student. Over Studying can result by inducing stress or anxiety in students. After all, there should be a balance to how Anaheim should import the innovated strategies of teaching discipline. Teachers at Anaheim High School should also begin to determine the amount of effort students put into their work by establishing a graph that records the progress of a student through the course of the year in regards to their effort, simultaneously giving the student, the usual work content, but acquiring a deeper value to the work, that the student would give effort for.
In my opinion this will help students acquire the skill of hard work which will thus, impact their academic performance by getting the hard work out of them. Students may sometimes tend to avoid difficulties, or give up in other words. According to The Secret to Raising Smart Students by Carol S. Dweck, there are a few “students who have the tendency to give up when faced to difficulty, whereas other students who are no more skilled continue to strive and learn” (Dweck 23). To explain, some students tend to want to give up when faced to the challenges schools provide, while there are other students with the same ability that on the contrary, take on the challenges, inducing effort. The secret to raising smart students suggests that some students capitulate in the face of challenges, although, I think that some students confuse the lack of ability and effort. Students don't convey the effort needed to the challenges. Students blame their ability by thinking that their intelligence is staged or fixed henceforth the submission upon the challenges, whereas the true issue is the lack of effort. assessment of student effort will help Anaheim High School assemble a superior line of hard working students to represent it. It will also train students to work harder, no matter the challenge. Effort along with discipline are key factors to the success of a student.
Anaheim High School must assist students to achieve real life skills such as problem solving skills in order to achieve the increase of student success. These skills will benefit students not only in school, but out in the real world by reinforcing them with the preparedness they will need for when confronted with real life situations. It's uncertain to avoid situations in life. According to the internet source Evolllution.com, when students depart from school and set out into the real world, “they sometimes feel lost without their tight schedules after many years that others identify and assess their performance” (Goodin). Most students don't accommodate or for that matter, don’t acquire the life skills they could use in places like school. Students in Anaheim, for example, in terms of perspective, don’t seem to exhibit the skill of solving problems or situations, they get stuck in a state of helplessness when faced to problems. Alma Goodin’s claim suggests that students become uncertain about what they should do after their departure from school, however, some students, ironically, are able to identify or figure out a solution to feeling uncertain about what they should do after their withdrawal from school, thus the reason to why Anaheim should promote life skill courses, students will be aided and equipped with the necessary skills to oppose and find the answers to problems and situations in school or in real life. Finally, Anaheim High School must follow the needs of the students and accomplish the increase of student success by changing the environment of the classroom.
The environment of a classroom can affect students when students are seated close to friends, which causes distractions or disruptiveness, when a teacher lacks the difference between group activities and individual activities to balance the work flow of the classroom, when teachers don't instruct students clearly and expressly. According to the source Uvm.edu, well arranged classroom “permit more positive interactions between teachers and students, reducing the probability that challenging behaviors will occur” (Guardino and Fullerton). Changing behaviors by changing classroom environments, Uvm.edu). Students should be able to connect or relate with the classroom environment because this will help the students accomplish a much more sophisticated view of the classroom, thus enabling the students to have a more positive reaction when induced to the classrooms content. A classroom can be arranged by establishing a different set up to rearrange where students can sit, teachers can adjust the rooms climate, temperature to insure the well-being of the students. The innovations or rearrangements of a classroom can help students in Anaheim apply a more responsible attitude in within their designated classrooms and build a better relationship with the
environment. Many changes must occur to increase the rate of student success in Anaheim High School, after all, it's the schools that are responsible for the progress of students. The changes that were mentioned above for student success in Anaheim will indeed have a positive result in the students of Anaheim in 2016 because these are the things that the educational system of anaheim is missing to incorporate in their students. Students in Anaheim will have the opportunity to fill the gap that has been missing that will, therefore, increase the amount of successful students in Anaheim. The students of Anaheim will need an innovation to progress to their satisfaction of being successful.
