Dear Willingboro Board of Education,
The school has adopted a policy which requires athletes to maintain a grade of “C” or higher. This has brought about a free tutoring program for athletes with low grades. I believe this notion is greatly called for. Having a free tutoring program will improve the academic performances of those who need it. Furthermore, this allows them to remain on whatever sports team they're on. This could also give them more confidence in their schools work. If tutoring for athletes isn't brought about, we could risk having a shortage of players on each sports team.
One of the benefits of having a tutoring program is that it will enhance the academic performances of our athletes. According to an article in Time magazine, 85% of students who have tutoring tend to do much better in school. This is significant because that is exactly what the school wants for their students; for them to do better. I always hear teachers say that extra time spent on a subject brings forth understanding. As the students revisit the areas in which they have trouble, they will gradually understand it.
In the same way, a tutoring program for our athletes will help them stay on their teams. The policy states that all athletes need a “C” or better to stay on the team. It doesn't matter whether they're on the football, baseball, soccer, tennis, or track team. Regardless of the sport they play, they all need to maintain a “C” or better. Therefore, tutoring can help them maintain good grades. This then allows them to be eligible for sports teams.
Additionally, having a tutoring program may give our athletes more confidence in their schoolwork. Most times, students have low self-esteem because they don't understand what they're learning. In most cases, they just need someone to push them. Tutoring offers one on one teaching that enables students to better learn a subject. In turn, our students gain the tenacity needed to come to
