The Seven Types Of Stress
Stress plays a major role in my life. Unfortunately, stress is reoccurring and the damage can be devastating. Everybody deals with stress because it’s unavoidable, but managing stress can limit the damage. In order to address stress, one must identify each type. The seven types of stress are physical, mental, chemical, emotional, nutritional, traumatic and psycho-spiritual. Physical stress could likely take place when someone doesn’t get enough sleep, travels frequently or any type of extreme physical exertion. Mental stress is more in relation to pollutants, pesticides and alcohol, nicotine or drug abuse. Emotional stress is likely to occur when someone is sad, frustrated, and lonely including feelings of guilt, fear and grief. Nutritional stress is the cause of eating unhealthy or allergies. …show more content…
Traumatic stress is in relation to illnesses, physical injuries and enduring extremely hot and cold temperatures. Psycho-spiritual is focused more on the pressures in life whether it involves someone’s career or financial obligations (Haas, 2010). There are many more connections to each type of stress. Stress could even lead to death or suicide. For example, an individual could act irrational if they are dealing with an enormous amount of stress; decision-making abilities are decreased and their emotions are high, pessimistically. Most importantly, post-traumatic disorder is ruining many lives in America, especially the U.S soldiers returning home after serving their country. My father was discharged from the military diagnosed with PTSD. I was forced to move in with my father because he couldn’t live alone. He would have many panic attacks, act out aggressively and lack
