PROGRAM NOTE
ABOUT THE COMPOSER
From my first encorurter I have had a special resonance with Bill Wortell's art - both his sculpture and his words. His writing entitled The
Shaman of Brotherhood (Lullaby for War) holds special significance in our present world. There's a certain sense of frustration, yet hopefulness at the same time. If only we could find the right melody,
David L. Brunner is acclaimed as a dynamic conductor, inspired teacher and imaginative
the right drum beat to invent a song to end all war.
What notes? What lyrics? It really brings us the larger question of what one person can do to bring peace, compassion and understanding to our

world and the larger world around us.
A
Song to End All War was commissioned and first perfomed as If I Could Write A Song by the
2007 Sing-A-Mi1e-High Children's Choir Festival in Denver, Colorado.
Sing this simple ballad with sincerity and an open heart. Sing as though your words could make a difference. -
David L.
Brunner
