1.) What do the Montezuma’s laws tell us about the social and moral values of the Aztecs?
Montezuma helped improved living conditions by setting up fresh water to Tenochtitlan, he was able to establish penal and social laws, and civic standards became high along with social advancement. Montezuma also developed a secure sophisticated cultural history and its accomplishments. While the Aztecs where under the watchful control of Montezuma’s the empire expanded pass the valleys of Mexico and much of central Mexico. The people viewed Montezuma’s as one of the first represents and independence of power. He was known to be a good leader and a wise warrior and that's what helped Mexica state to develop more quickly. People in Aztec had roles that were defined clearly along with social class! The kings ruled the empire and lived in high class; you had the Nobles who were important officials, such as tax collectors and judges. The priest would keep the calendars, and perform different duties; the warriors would defend the Aztecs and capture people for sacrifice. The Aztecs was basically run by the caste system along with markets leading the main economy as well as the Aztec and Montezuma may have seemed. We need to remember that this was hundreds of years ago and laws around the world were much different, but with some similarities. Men who would join the force, capturing men in war would often time would help lift their name; many would want to obtain glory. Other way to obtain a high name in society was to join the priesthood; if a man would serve until his old age they would be sent to high honorable post; such as government councils that were held and may be herd by ones opinion. Aztec values high class more and families would try to bring themselves up, we see some of that today in some countries.
