The Sociological Factors That Influenced My Life

Every human being at the beginning is essentially the same crying infant. Our various different personalities come into play by a culmination of our environment, upbringing, and experiences. Embodied in these, are concepts that explain the differences in our environment, upbringing, and experiences. Without realizing it, these seemingly small differences impact us in numerous ways, that make us the person we are today. For example, I’m adopted from China. If I was never adopted and was currently living in China, I’m sure I would be an extremely different person than I am right now. All these sociological factors have influenced me to be me. Culture is a subliminal system of our society. This Means there isn’t a handbook of sorts that instructs you on how to behave based on what’s deemed appropriate. Instead, they’re behaviors or mannerisms that we inherently know through observing people that we know and trust. For example, language is a large part of someone’s culture. Language is defined as a system of communication used by a particular community. Language plays large part of your identity as a person.Without learning how to communicate with a specific culture’s language, you’re unable to fully participate within that group. As a personal example, in China they speak Mandarin and if I had stayed there I probably would speak Mandarin too, instead of English. Some more important aspects of culture are values beliefs, and norms. Values and beliefs are directly related to one another, in the way that they are both shared assumptions cultures have.
