Then he felt that he even understood something about that word of freedom… It must be something when you are allowed to do whatever you want and nobody would punish you for that, nobody would make you painfully cough, nobody would call you with that terribly pitched barking which makes him so afraid sometimes…
Is it freedom when they leave him alone for hours at their strange household to which he was by now accustomed? No, that couldn’t be a freedom, because when left alone, he usually gets that deep anxiety that they would never come back and he would not have anybody to give him food or to take him to pee and poo… That would be more like solitude and dependence than freedom…

Then, why was he still thinking about that strange word – freedom? He was asking himself if he would like to live a life in the uncertainty of tomorrow or to be secure in his little place… But, what if that beautiful woman appears again and he would not be able again to kiss her or just to talk with her because his dogs don’t want him to do that? And they don’t want him to do that just because, which was always their prevailing motive for everything, he was able to recall… So, for the whole his life he would depend on their just because
