In the song “The Streets of Laredo” I would consider that this song would have attributes that would work well as a poem. This is because poems can tell a story and so can a song. With this song, the story that it is being told is that a cowboy is dying and telling another cowboy. Ballads are common with songs along with poems because they are telling a story. As stated before most authors like to have a story behind their words. The story might not be clear to the reader or the listener but there is most of the time there is a story. Other times the story the is right out in the open. With the stories that are not out in the open the reader or listener would have to do some research about what the author was wanting the story to be. They could also talk to their friends and have a discussion on the story.

They can have emotion with in the story or just with the words that they use. The poems can have emotion by the words that the author chooses to use. The poem could make not a lot of sense to the reader. By the words that the author uses they could tell the emotion behind the words on the page. This also goes for the music that we listen to today. Some of the songs that we listen to we are not sure what they want but we can tell what emotion they want us to have. If we took away the music we would be able to tell by the lyrics what emotion that they wanted as
