The Stressful Life of College Students
There are many things that cause stress for college students; family pressure, relationships, peer pressure and work pressure. The first reason that causes a lot of stress for college students is family pressure. The college students get pressure from their families to perform well in their studies. In this competitive world, parents expect good performance and excellent grades from their children. For example, a student who just entered college after high school has to adjust in the new environment which itself is very stressful for him/her and if parents expect good performance, he/she will feel a lot of stress and cannot perform well in his/her tests, quizzes and in exams. Moreover, they will feel stress about not getting the assignment done that was due the following day or week. The fear of being a failure and not giving their best to someone’s expectations adds more pressure to student. The second reason that causes a lot of stress for college students is peer pressure. Peer pressure is when friends encourage you to do something that you do not want to do or you just don't have the courage to do it. Peer Pressure can be good peer pressure and bad peer pressure. Bad peer pressure is being pressured into doing something that is not correct. For example, when my cousin entered in college, he came in a contact with bad peers and they force him to miss classes, enjoy outside college and finally he failed his exam. Many students are helpless to bad peer-pressure because they are afraid of being rejected; losing friends, being teased and they cannot say No to anyone. As a result, college students fall in the trap of too much fun and not enough studying which can cause stress. The third and main reason that causes a lot of stress for college students is work pressure. Because of higher college fees, some students do part-time jobs along with their studies. The demands and job responsibility can leave a college student exhausted.

The majority of college students may be going through a lot of stressful situations that can impact their education significantly. While college students prefer to focus on social objectives in the school, they usually feel academic pressure from others around them.
