Hudson's Bay (formerly and still commonly known as The Bay) is a chain of 90 department stores that operate across parts of Canada. Hudson’s Bay Company (HBC), founded in 1670, is North America’s longest continually operated company. It has its headquarters in the SimpsonTower in Toronto. In French, the chain is known as laBaied'Hudson (formerly la Baie), short for "Compagnie de la Baied'Hudson". Today it offers an unparalleled range of retailing categories and shopping experiences internationally to its customers.
The stores are full-line department stores, with its focus on fashion apparel, accessories, and home goods. Most price points are mid to upper-mid with some high price points in the flagship store on Queen Street in Toronto. However, there is an assortment of everyday low-price merchandise. The Bay can be compared withU.S retailers Macy's and Nordstrom. Flagship downtown stores exist in Canada's largest cities includingToronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Ottawa, Calgary, Edmonton, and Winnipeg, often being multi-storey, historic buildings and carry a much broader range and selection of goods than regular Bay stores.
The stores have lot to offer to their customers specially the huge trademark stores of the bay they have daily deals on the product tempting collection from the exclusive designers. Shaw (March 13, 2013).

History

The former Hudson's Bay Company stores in Yorkton, Saskatchewan were built in 1912-13.
The origin of the Hudson's Bay Company's department store format can be traced to 1881, when the company opened its first department store in Winnipeg, Manitoba, under its proper name "Hudson's Bay Company". From 1881 up until 1960, all "Hudson's Bay Company" stores were located inWestern Canada. The bay hold the most changing history and the Hudson’s bay continuously took over many departmental stores and eventually named them the bay. They have taken over Morgan's, Freimans, Simpsons, Woodward's, NRDC Equity Partners and Lord & Taylor.
