One character who hides what their true intentions are is Hamlet. Hamlet is a very complicated character. He appears to be a nice genuine character but in all reality he is very evil. Many people have asked the question of is he really insane or gone mad or is that just something he's just doing for show. Although Hamlet did appear to be mad and insane in front of other people so he could get the chance to kill Claudius. The people of Denmark think that he just wanted to marry Gertrude, grieve the death of his brother and try to be the best king he can be all at the same time. He acts like he has done nothing wrong and just wants to be happy and make everyone happy. Little does everyone know, he was the one who killed his brother and the only reason he married Gertrude was so he could inherit the thrown and not Hamlet. Claudius is the master of hypocrisy even though he's the king he is a very evil person as well. Also it appears that Claudius likes Hamlet because Claudius is his uncle and stepfather. On the other hand, he sends Polonius and Rosencrantz to spy on Hamlet to figure out the real reason he went insane. That could mean that Claudius cares about Hamlet but I think he is doing it more out of spite than
