The Three Poisons In Buddhism

Religion dates back to nearly the beginning of time, religion has evolved and developed immensely over the centuries, and religion is something nearly the entire population of the world has in common. Not everyone has the same belief system but everyone has their own view on religion and their own faith. I see religion as a very important factor in society. Religion is a set of beliefs to create a better understanding of life and everything that comes along with it. Without religion, humans wouldn’t be able to comprehend life and would not be able to grasp the concept and meaning behind certain events. I believe without religion there would be chaos and if humans didn't have something to believe in they wouldn't see the point of life. Buddhism is one of the many religions that a large number of people put all of their faith into. Buddhism is an extremely powerful religion given the fact that their belief system doesn't have a god per say, they have a teacher and their job is to look within to find the answer rather than be given the answer from someone else. One of the goals of Buddhism and accepting oneself is converting the three poisons into their opposites, greed would become generosity, anger would become compassion, and lastly, ignorance would be converted into wisdom (Grubin). In my experiences converting the three poisons to their opposites would make a positive impact on someone's life. If I would have grown up being full of greed, anger, and ignorance, my life would not be ideal. I wouldn't be able to be successful, happy, or even content with my life.
