What is Sikhism? List the 5 K’s. Why are they important to Sikh? Sikhism is a monotheistic religion that split off of Hinduism. It believes in the one God. The book of Sikhism is the Guru Granth. It began and remains most prevalent religion in the Punjab region of India. It was started by Guru Nanak and combines the elements of Hinduism and Islam. They do not believe in the Caste System (like the Hindus), reject the idea of a pilgrimage to the Ganges, but do believe in reincarnation.
