There are 5 student learning outcomes covered in this semester. These leaning outcomes where the concentreation of time was spent in the semester and were deemed important by the powers that be. By grasping the concepets involved in these leaning outcomes they are what should be taken from this course and are to be applied in the workplace in the future. Physics is more around us than one would think. Physics is in all of the things you love to do. Take golf as an example there is velocity in a golf swing. Velocity is the speed of something in a given object and the speed of your club in the direction you are aiming is velocity. Also there is gravitational potential energy in the top of your backswing to cause you to pull the club downward. The first of the four principles of effective intervention is risk principle. Risk principle tells us that intervention programs should use a mix of cognitive and behavioral strategies (Wright, 2012.) This is saying that the intervention should target high risk offenders, to prevent them from reoffending. Research has proved that targeting high risk offenders works more often then targeting low risk offenders. Certain offenses are considered low risk and others high. That is what qualifies you as a low and high risk offender by what offense you committed the first time. Moreover, research also shows that targeting low-risk offenders with intensive treatment can actually increase their reoffending (Latessa, 2010). Every interaction that occurs is a product of societal teachings of what is considered deviant. It has a hand in every aspect of a person’s actions and emotions. The teaching of society dictates when it is appropriate to initiate the use of a certain action and express a particular emotion so that no act of deviance occurs. These teachings of deviance are made under this notion to understand people who act different from the social norm. This creates the question, why do these acts of deviance occur or why is this person a deviant? Society uses the question why, as a basis to create theoretical perspectives regarding deviance and social control to produce an answer relative to that time period. The perspectives are molded around what the majority of society does, the social norm, in order to fix or scare the deviant behavior out, thus the root of social control is created. As society progressed and the same question why was ask, perspectives shifted to fulfill the question of the origin of deviant acts. The three key perspectives start with Christian demonology then shift to Classical criminology followed by Medicalization of deviance. These three theoretical perspectives were each molded out of the social norm associated with that era.
