I’m Truman, I don’t even know that this types of diaries existed until I saw a movie yesterday with Sylvia and I feel attracted by this type of writing. It’s a little bit difficult to tell my feelings to a piece of paper but I will do my best.
This world is amazing, I mean, there are some things I’m a little concerned but making a general view this is awesome.
I learn new things, new words, new people, but most important I learn new feelings. Feelings like when I’m with Sylvia I feel like thousands of butterflies in my stomach, it’s so weird that I once go to the doctor.
Sylvia, oh Sylvia, she is so nice, so sweet, so patient, and I can love her with all my heart. I get destructed with his eyes and her tone of voice; she was my first real feeling and would last forever.
People here in LA are a little bit rude sometimes, they don’t care a lot for other people and selfishness is very present in each of the humans including me, today I Sylvia ask for a cookie and I ate it all by myself.
I discover things about me that I have never known and I discover parts of this huge and enormous world

An experience can be defined by events that occur or conditions created by us individuals. These experiences may be frightening to an individual as it may encourage negative discoveries about ourselves, others or society. It is important that we learn lessons from experiences and accept the consequence, whether it may be rewarding or not, the discovery may positively impact and alter an individual’s attitude, behaviours and values. This consequently affects others, creating great sense of acceptance, happiness and improved self-esteem. ‘The Book Thief’ by Markus Zusak portrays the idea that the horrific, threatening experiences that an individual may endure can be consolidated by unconditional love of parents and true friendship. ‘Cats in The Cradle’, a folk song by Harry Chaplin depicts the idea that realisation in itself is an important discovery as it enables an individual to change, having a positive impact on the people around them. The outlook of an individual strongly influences the impact a discovery has on that person, and how they choose to perceive and react it.…

Peter Weir’s film ‘The Truman Show’ is about a corporation that has imprisoned Truman Burbank into an artificial world for the entertainment of an audience watching him on a television show. Even though Truman’s world of Seahaven is full of actors and artificial relationships, authenticity manages to creep into his life. These relationships range from people who barely feel a relation to Truman as a product such as Christof and the audience. Additionally there a people who feel a real connection to Truman such as Sylvia, this is made visible as the effects of her removal.…

What I aim to do with this rhetorical analysis is bring forth to the reader a deeply immersive look at the rhetorical concepts present in the film The Truman Show. It is important for a viewer to fully understand the underlying messages and subtle undertones in between the lines, so to speak. The Truman Show is one man’s life being played out in a closed environment for the entertainment of the outside world. Most important to note, Truman Burbank has no clue that his whole life has been little more than just a television program produced on a grand scale to produce the image of reality in a dome. The Truman Show blends ethos, logos, and pathos together in a symphony of self-discovery and power over an adversary, whether physical or spiritual. It is one man’s journey from unknowing and subconscious subterfuge to self-awareness and vindication.…

To encounter the concept of both physical and metaphorical exploration is the act of discovery, which can either be positive or negative, planned or unplanned. However, through discovery individuals will find new understanding and renewed perceptions of themselves as well as others. In all aspects, discoveries can be profoundly meaningful in ways that can be emotional, creative, intellectual, physical and spiritual. This will be examined in the play “”Rainbow’s End” by Jane Harrison, the film “The Fringe Dweller’s” by Bruce Beresford and the novel “Looking for Alibrandi” by Melina Marchetta as they all portray attributes of self-discoveries, discoveries about each other and about the world they adapt to and live within.…

Many things in life are said to be true or false by the viewpoint of the individual. They may be pre-determined due to religious beliefs or may be by the way they were taught by observations throughout their life. In 1998, director Peter Weir released his film, The Truman Show, which revolves around a non-fictional character within a fictional world. In The Truman Show, Truman, which is portrayed by Jim Carrey, lives in a normal world, or so he thinks. Truman was born into a reality TV show. From the moment that he was born, his life has been televised. Everyone in his world from his mom and dad, to even his wife and best friend, are actors. The set takes place in a super-sized dome right above the Hollywood Hills. The creator of this world,…

The movie _The Truman Show_ is a compelling movie about the affects of a controlled society on an individual. This movie stars Jim Cary as Truman Burbank and is set in modern-day reality. The hypothesis of the movie is a mammoth sociological experiment involving this man named Truman. Truman is born and raised on a gigantic movie set. Truman's every action, since his birth, is documented in the form of a television reality show. Every aspect of Truman's life has been preconditioned since his birth. This preconditioning is much like how society teaches children today; the only difference with Truman is his life is much more controlled. One's culture is the totality of customs learned like ideas, values, and knowledge (Schaefer, 2003). Truman's culture and norms where taught to him based on what Christoph, the director in the movie, thought was an ideal society. Truman's social location is even chosen for him as the movie reveals he is a white male salesman earning a modest income. The most interesting twist to the movie is Truman's life is broadcast worldwide much like the reality shows of today. The Truman show examines how society has a propensity to accept the reality that we live in, and how we become products of society and other sociological viewpoints.…

Discoveries and discovering can offer new understandings and renewed perceptions of ourselves and others. This is evident in Away by Michael Gow which focuses on aspects of discovery including realisations within oneself which can uncover further perceptions of ourselves or others. Oftentimes in society, we take many things for granted. Many things we may not even notice. We take for granted the safety of the normality of our lives. We also take advantage of the care and precision that goes into keeping that way. In our safe society the behaviors we display are expected to be courteous and polite. Society does not expect the people in it to be rude or without manners. Our society is like this because we are always being watched, being regulated. Many times people have wondered what would happen if we were not always watched. We wonder if man would be evil or good. That is exactly…
