The Truth About Lying Studies show that the average person lies several times a day. Even the smallest of lies make you stress, which can cause your heart rate and breathing to increase, digestion to slow down, and hypersensitivity of muscle and nerve fibers. These affects may not sound that serious, but over time, they can lead to conditions that no one would want, such as coronary artery disease, stroke, and congestive heart failure. This could happen all because of lying, because when you lie, your blood pressure rises.” Those who lie on a daily basis or have been keeping a big secret for years may find it easy to do so over time, but they are significantly more at risk for these negative health effects than others.” Lying just does not affect you physically but also emotionally. lie you are more at risk to the undesirable health effects. By measuring how much your blood pressure rises when you are telling the lie will show how much more of a greater risk you have of getting one of the health effects. Children learn that lying is okay from their parents, which shows that their parents have a risk of the diseases. Terrifyingly, nowhere else is stress more directly linked to the development of a disease than in cancer, so lying is connected to cancer by the stress lying can make you feel. Lying also affects your behavior, especially in teenagers. They will begin to lie about their grades, and to their parents, which obviously will affect them in the long run. Lying does not affect the behavior of just this age group; it affects the behavior of all age groups but each age group in different ways. Also, the extent of the lie will have an effect of the stress caused by the lie and how much your blood pressure rises. By telling such an extensive lie, your brain begins to work more causing the lie you tell to be all you think about making it very stressful. Adults are more vulnerable to the diseases caused by stress which comes from lying because of so much added stress and their bodies are weaker than a child’s. Even after you tell a lie, your brain keeps working, which even if you feel it or not, it is stressful on your brain. Being an adult and lying constantly is bad for health and for your everyday work life. You can damage your everyday life with one simple lie. It does not matter what age you are, your body can only handle so much stress physically and emotionally. By not telling lies, you can keep yourself from the risks of the diseases lying can cause. Psychologists tell us that we lie because we are fearful of the consequences of telling the truth but now that we know the consequences of lying to our health both physically and emotionally we should always think twice before telling our little white lie.
