Chapter eight asserts that the birth of the Revolutionary War occurred from 1763 to 1775 because of political values in the colonies, British legislation, and violent conflicts between the colonies and Britain. After the Seven Years War, even though they were the most powerful force in North America, Britain was heavily in debt and needed a way to pay for the war they had just fought and won. At the same time, the American colonies were enjoying their continent without any French involvement and the colonists were getting slightly too comfortable with being ignored by England. When these two ideas came head to head, it caused much conflict over political values and legislative styles as well as physical violence in the colonies. One of the largest reasons for the Revolutionary War was an increase…

The cause of the American Revolution can be argued but it is clear that it was caused from British missteps that lead to colonial determination to become a separate nation. After 1763, the British began to increase and assert their power over the colonies, who, in contrast, wanted to be less controlled. However, the colonies did not want complete independence prior to this increase in control from the British. Although the colonies did seem to have determination for an independent nation in England’s eyes, the British failed to recognize the colonies real intentions for government, limited expansion and economic success, and increased and controlled taxation in the colonies.…

The Revolutionary War was not a war that was fought just to show the British what the colonials were capable of. It was fought to earn our independence and freedom from the unfair British rule. We knew that we did not want to live like that anymore, so we fought as hard and strategically as we could and in the end won the war and our independence. There are three main reasons why the Colonials won the Revolutionary War. The first reason is that leading up to the war, we boycotted all kinds of British goods to show them that we still held some form of power while under their control and would not stand to be taxed unfairly.…

The Battle of Saratoga was an event that was created by other situations before it. In 1777, the British army planned a three part attack. These attacks would be from three different directions to confuse the Patriots and stay on target. This was to seize Albany, New York and gain control of the nearby Hudson River. In turn, it would cut off the New England colonies from the Middle Colonies as the Hudson River connects both regions. It started with General Burgoyne, a leading British general, leading troops from Canada to Albany. Lieutenant Colonel Barry St. Leger also moved East from Lake Ontario at this time. Finally, a third group under General Howe moved up from the Hudson. These forces moved as one strong mass and coordinated every…

The Battle of Saratoga lasted from September 19, 1777 to October 17, 1777 and was a large turning point for the American revolution. In 1777 a British general ,by the name of John Burgoyne, convinced the British ministry that he could deal a heavy blow to the Americans via leading an army from Canada through lake Champlain and into the Hudson while General Howe led one up the Hudson from New York. They allowed it and so, in June 1777, Burgoyne departed with almost 8000 soldiers from St. Johns on lake champlain. As the army continued southward, Burgoyne had his men distribute a proclamation that included the statement “I have but to give stretch to the Indian forces under my direction, and the amount to thousands” , which meant that Britain's…

Ingrid Ortiz Mrs. Buice APUSH- Period 3 30 September 2014 Intro With all of the circumstances weighed, one can see that the outcome of the American Revolutionary War of 1776 inevitably tilted toward victory for the colonists. The British brought an experienced Army to bear on the Colonists; however, fighting a war across the Atlantic Ocean required supplying the army by way of the sea, a great logistical disadvantage. The Colonists, by contrast were fighting in their own backyards, and had a well-coordinated system of supply routes that made it easy to support their smaller and constantly moving army, no matter where they fought.…

The Seven Years War marked a turning point in American relations with Great Britian. The biggest change in relation was that Great Britian received territorial gains. In order to please Native Americans and to try to keep peace parliament issued The Proclamation Line of 1763.This was supposed to forbid settlement west of the Appalation Mountains. Colonists, however, ignored this proclamation and settled there anyway because they won that land in war. Ignoring Parliament set up tension between Great Britian and the colonies. The American Revolution (1775-83) is also known as the American Revolutionary War and the U.S. War of Independence. The conflict arose from growing tensions between residents of Great Britain's 13 North American colonies and the colonial government, which represented the British crown. Skirmishes between British troops and colonial militiamen in Lexington and Concord in April 1775 kicked off the armed conflict, and by the following summer, the rebels were waging a full-scale war for their independence. France entered the American Revolution on the side of the colonists in 1778, turning what had essentially been a civil war into an international conflict. After French assistance helped the Continental Army force the British surrender at Yorktown, Virginia, in 1779, the Americans had effectively won their independence, though fighting would not formally end until 1783.
