Today more than ever, people are grouped into social classes based on their friends. You could be considered popular, or lame. This is not just true for middle school, but also life in the 50s. The book The Outsiders focuses on two main cliques, the Greasers and the Socs. One might think that the name represents Greasers, and what they have to deal with, but the real outsiders are specific people. The outsiders are the people who dare to be different from the stereotype of their group, who believe people should be judged on who they are, not social class. Major outsiders in the book are Darry, Ponyboy, and Cherry Valance.…

The Lost Guardian Chapter One - Epidemic “Aghhh,” Zander spat out, utterly exhausted, as he wearily hurtled himself down on the torn apart sofa. Sheer tiredness now suddenly a heavy burden like how the titan Atlas bears the weight of the world, he fainted, entirely oblivious to the ear-damaging horns and the chaotic mayhem just across the rubbish strewn street. With uneven breaths, he painfully awoke 3 hours later, only to hear a drunk bloke shriek, at the top of his lungs, “Screw the Black-Rule Party!” Slowly recalling the outbreak which cost him an excruciating pain in the eye, he remembered about the 2264 US election where the corrupt BRP won the majority of the seats. Zander was racist, but anyone would support his opinion that the BRP…

One time a bond has been broke was caused by an argument with my brother. This argument was based off of his girlfriend, Katie. From my point of view, Katie was taking my brother away from me. Also, my brother wasn’t acting like himself after they had gotten together. Just as Georg, from the short story “The Interlopers” by Saki, despised Ulrich, I wasn’t a big fan of Katie. This argument had taken place about a month ago, when my brother had graduated from Basic Training in Fort Benning, Georgia. After he graduated, I had noticed that all of his attention was directed towards Katie, and she was his number one priority. Being his best friend for fourteen years, this made me feel like I had lost my brother.…

    Death of a Salesman

When it comes to families, all ours are different and what separates our family from the next person is the way we act toward each other. What makes a tight family is how they can communicate with each other, not putting one person over the other and treating everyone just as equal. However in”Death of a Salesman’’ by Arthur Miller, the Loman family was pure an example of a dysfunctional family. They were a family who fed off lies, dreams of success, and phony relationships. Arthur wanted to send the message of how there’s a difference between working hard for success and finding the “in’s and out’s”, the way Willy believes. He might want to take advice about success from Booker T. Washington who said” success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome.” Arthur Miller shows with Happy, Willy, and Biff that success is not only seen as a goal but also as a weakness. Each character plays a big role on why the family is so dysfunctional; the only character who seems normal was the mother. The relationship Willy had with his boys was night a day between Biff and Happy. However his “golden child” wasn’t so much a “golden child”.…

She was the only one that could bail me out of time out when i got in trouble, the only one that would play dress up with me because I was the only girl growing up, and the only one that allowed me to watch TV until my eyes fell out. I loved staying up late listening to her spooky ghost stories and dreaded waking up early for Sunday morning bible study with her. Grandma Bea was the big sister I always wanted, and regretfully, I am just now realizing it. She had been a registered nurse for years, and worked as a supervisor in a nursing home. Recently, my family began to notice her regular calls were fading from the cheery talk about how great work was, to her worrying someone was stealing from her. Some of her belongings began to disappear. When her mother's jewelry came up missing, my dad went over to make sure she didn't just misplace it. After searching for hours, he plopped down on the couch for a breather when, low and behold, the missing jewels were found in between the couch cushions. As my family's concern for her well-being began to grow, she reasoned this was only what comes of old age along with her lousy eyesight and somewhat hard of hearing. She was not able to drive at night. If she happened to be behind the wheel at night fall, she would pull over to switch seats with someone. Grandma is such a stubborn woman. She argued with the family until they were convinced that she could stay at her own apartment. After all, she lived in a senior living community located directly across the street from her job. She was still a certified registered nurse and was still my father's mother, so he let her be and dismissed it as she disputed. Not too long after that episode, my dad received an urgent message from her exclaiming that there were aliens in her apartment, and she needed to get picked up immediately. As bogus as that sounded, my dad rushed over as soon as he could. He…
