The Veldt Stand Alone. “Too Much Technology Can Negatively Affect our Lives.”
The Short Story “The Veldt” written by Ray Bradbury, is a science fiction story that takes place in the 1950’s, in which Bradbury writes about an average family living a “mechanical Utopia”. Their home oversees everything they do. Bradbury illustrates how too much technology can negatively affect our lives. Despite having all the comforts of technology, Lydia can’t get used to simply allowing the house to do all the work, and that’s when she starts questioning her role as a mother. An example of that is, “Maybe I don’t have enough to do. Maybe I have time to think too much. Why don’t we shut the whole house off for a few days and take a vacation?” It becomes noticeable
