"Evil lurks in places you would never imagine and tries to charm its way into your life."- unknown. As said in the quote evil is near and it can be in forms that would easily fool any person without any warning. In " The Waiting Room" by D.M. Larson, one of the major themes is that trust is easily gain and use for evil.
In the play, "The Waiting Room," the author D.M. Larson uses symbolism as a representation between good and evil. Good is the mortality of someone's attitude or way of being. People that are good are people that love to see someone else happy. For example, in the play Gil is the person that wants everyone else to be happy or fine. He/she is fine with the situation they're in, as long his/her family is safe and taken
care of.
The notion of evil is that it is used to mistreat others in anyway without their knowledge. It is a personality that some people that are out to kill or be mischievous to some else possess. In the play, Ralph is a good representation of what evil means, he used the trust of kindhearted people and fooled them by making them believe he was an insurance guy. Another good representation of what both evil and good are in the play are the lights. As the lights turn bright it means that there is hope and when it turns dark that means that something evil will happen.
By exploring the representation of evil and good, evil is easily concealed behind a mask. As quoted by J.K Rowling, a famous writer who wrote the harry potter series, quoted “There is no good and evil, there is only power and those too weak to seek it.,” meaning that as much kindness others give off there is now way of telling if it’s true or not. So, in other words do not trust in others to easily like Gil, Max, and Pete in the play “The Waiting Room.”
