When it comes to writing there are many different types of writing styles. Two different types of literature are short stories and poems. These two types have many different similarities and differences. It is also how you understand the literature. Some similarities are how they can have the same theme or possibly the same point of view. The differences are how the author uses emotions, the length of the literature. I believe that poems use more of emotion. Poems maker readers use their imagination more in order to understand the literature more.
Some poems and short stories have many different styles and meanings. When it comes to writing or reading poems it tells how a person feels. Some poems tell about how hard life decisions are for some people. When you read short stories the stories lead more to a plot and poems have more meaning to them and more feeling. “Aristotle himself, in his discourse of poesy, plainly determines this question, saying that poetry is philosophoteron and spoudaioteron’27): it is in the light of what is serious (spoudaios) that philosophical debate over the nature and value of poetry retains its strongest connections with what prompted its initiation.” (De Gaynesford, Maximilian. Essays in Criticism. Jan2009, Vol. 59 Issue 1, p1-21. 21p). This is proof that poems use more of an image to keep a connection with the readers.
A short story has plots and different characters. It can also be told from many points of view. Unlike poems short stories cannot be written in verses and they do not rhyme. A short story can be very descriptive instead of just getting straight to the point. It gives the reader a chance to use their imagination to picture what author is describing. An example is “She went straight for the top dresser drawer where she found an antique watch that didn't work, several monogrammed handkerchiefs with initials she did not know, and a batch of
