The Westing Game By Ellen Raskin
Personal Response: I read the book, The Westing Game, by Ellen Raskin. It was a very interesting book and I enjoyed reading it. The book was a mystery and I do not usually read those types of books. It was cool to always be thinking about who the killer could be.

When he died, he left clues to this game and whoever figures out the murderer gets Mr. Westing's $220 million heir. All of the people playing the games, live in the Sunset Towers apartments.

One of the heirs is Turtle. She is a 12 year old girl and she was in the Westing house the night that he died. She went in there on a dare on Halloween. The day

It is hard to make out a main character, but I think is there would be one, it would be Turtle Wexler. She is the youngest out of all of the heirs. She is 12 years old and always has her hair in a ponytail. She kicks people in the shin when they touch it. Another main character is Mr. Westing. He is dead for the entire story, but he is constantly mentioned. He was the owner of Westing Paper Products. He was murdered and left a game for the heirs to

In Richard Connell’s thrilling short story “The Most Dangerous Game”, an uneasy mood is constructed by Rainsford’s illusive adventure on Ship Trap Island. Many moments in the short story help build up a feeling of uneasy, one being when Winston uses a simile to describe the evil of the atmosphere, saying that the air “ was actually poisonous”, and that he felt a “mental chill, a sort of sudden dread” when the ship neared the island (Connell 1). The author makes the reader feel uneasy by making just the atmosphere itself seem evil and dangerous with the simile comparing the air to something that kills and is to be avoided. Readers also naturally pick up the feeling of dread from Whitney, which significantly helps in building…

At the start, Rainsford and Whitney are sailing through the Caribbean on a yacht coursed to Rio for a jaguar hunting trip, when they start a heating conversation about hunting.
