The ramification of Immigration in the USA. The articles are about immigration in the US which is a common issue at present. Majority of the people around the USA are either benefiting or experiencing drawbacks due to immigration. Both works effectively address the consequences of migrating to the USA from undeveloped countries that are constantly spoken on most political platforms. The central idea of the article “The Worker Next Door” is that life would go on in the USA with or without low skilled foreign workers and that if there weren’t much low skilled foreign workers there would have been an increase in economic growth. This article was written by Barry R. Cheswick who is a specialist in the labor market and holds a PhD in Economics. The author starts off the article by comparing his Irish grandfather to Angel, a Mexican immigrant, how his grandfather had no issue living here and being a citizen once he married an American descendant but whereas Angel couldn’t even become a legal resident once he married an American . Is there any visible difference? Tierney also continues to describe that an Mexican immigrant lives in constant fear that they have no solid proof that they would come home to their families. As an example he quotes Angel “I work hard and pay taxes and don’t want any welfare. Why deport me?” (Current Issues 563). He also uses studies to prove that the immigrants have caused an improvement in economic growth.This maybe because immigration create new business and are willing to work jobs that Americans are not willing to do at low wages.
