In an emergency, it might be necessary for a group to evacuate their camp. In this case, it is smart to have a backpack packed with the essentials, such as food, water, medical supplies, a change of clothing, and maybe a flashlight. This bag should always be available at a moment’s notice so that a person or group can make a hasty escape. An escape may also require a vehicle if the plan is to get far away from the original location. This vehicle should also be packed with essentials, including extra gasoline, food, water, blankets and maybe a tent. Along with the emergency supplies packed, having a battery powered radio may also come in handy in an extreme situation. With most communication systems, such as phones and the internet, useless during the apocalypse, the only reliable source may be a radio, which can tune into different frequencies and alert the survival group to other groups nearby that may either be friendly and help, or be hostile. Hostile groups, whether zombie or human, also have the ability to compromise a safe house. Once the original location is overrun by the undead, or attacked by other survival groups, it will no longer be a secure place to stay. Some people cannot fathom a time where society’s structure could collapse and the world could be overrun by the undead. Admittedly, the idea of corpses being turned into zombies is absurd as there is no real scientific proof or reasoning to back up such a situation. There has never been an epidemic outbreak that has the ability to turn people into mindless walking corpses, and with today’s medical resources, most likely never will. Nevertheless, there is always a possibility for a new, unknown disease to have zombie-like symptoms.
