Theme Of After The First Death
A parent and a child share a bond like no one else. They guide, provide and help in just about any situation. Even in a situation like the one in the novel, After the First Death, where a group of terrorist figures make a plan to take a bus of children hostage in an attempt to get their homeland back. In another perspective of the story, a boy named Ben and his father are a part of a secret military operation called Inner Delta are against the terrorists and are attempting to save the children. While capturing the bus and holding Kate, the bus driver, and about 20 children, the terrorists sit and wait until they get an offer from the other side as the U.S. snipers and military organizations surround them on the bridge. In this novel, there are many important themes that clearly are shown throughout this complicated …show more content…
It is demonstrated in the text many times and Ben and his father have this relationship, Miro and Artkin have it as well, and Kate and the children demonstrate that they have that sort of relationship without even knowing it. One of the relationships in the story that have a weak father and son bond is Ben and his father, Mark, the General of the anti-terrorist force. Even though the relationship between the two may not be as strong in the ways that one might know a father and son relationship to be, they do in fact have one. For example, the story shows that even though Ben rarely sees his father, he does respect him and likes it when he gets the little attention that he does from him. On the other side of the table is the father, who, despite not acting very father-like, does show that he is caring when he takes the time to protect Ben by giving him a bodyguard. Showing that he does think of Ben as a son and does respect him even though he is not with him the majority of the time. Another example of this is when Ben obeys his father when he sends him out on

The setup of this novel is great and there are many scenarios of themes that are present. The main focus of this book is to make you aware of the main plots, and it does a great job of that. The main topic I'm working on is about the motifs in this novel. Motifs are the repetitiveness of several items throughout the novel. If you pick up on them then you already know what im talking about. The idea of a motif is to allow the reader to understand why this item is so important and what it has relations to in the book. A Motif can stand for many things in a book such as ,it could be major foreshadowing, or even keeping an idea going on throughout the book. So throughout this book you should really pick up on a couple.…

Novels have to be catching to eye; a good book has to possess certain characteristics to allow the reader to be engaged in the novel and to be able to make personal connections or references to their everyday lives. Having a theme gives the novel an edge and creates a better story to read.
