Theme Of Control In Romeo And Juliet

One of the themes in Romeo and Juliet is on the subject of parents and the control over their children. The theme in question would be, “Is it okay for parents to be controlling and, if so, to what extent does the control stretch until it turns into a negative influence?” In the play, Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, the two lovers go behind their parent’s backs because they knew they would disapprove of their love.
