The man she loves the most just killed her father, and she was one of the last to find out. “Good night, ladies, good night. Sweet ladies, good night, good night.” (Act IV, Scene V) here we can see she is mad because it is like she isn’t even affected by what has happened. I honestly think that she did this as a ploy so no one would go looking for her. Soon after she “drowns” which I think wasn’t an accident but on purpose. I don’t think there was a method for her madness, just emotionally she couldn’t handle what had happened in such a short time.
