that resort to the will of survivability as well as reflecting upon the life before and after the events that partake in the book itself such as this sentence, “He had suddenly been suddenly jerked from the heart of civilization and flung into the heart of things primordial”(ch2 pg15). Therefore as its continued read, It also brings to mind almost a cruel sense of though that must be done in order to continue fighting. Although everyone was once primitive, the will to revert back to that sort of mental state is scarce, without death to follow. Continually pushed to the brink of being crazed or being brought back to the state of mind needed to survive without much thought, rather then hunger and thirst but savagery as this sentence shows, “He was ranging at the head of the pack, running the wild thing down, the living meat, to kill with his own teeth and wash his muzzle up to his eyes in warm blood.”(ch3 pg40).
The sentence then shows the savagery that has been accepted towards the end which all is forgot but the hunger or the instinct to kill. As the mental state changes so does the thought of the modernization of ones life before, showing that primitivity has finally taken over. In all it shows that primitivity is without question, a theme that should be brought up from all the instinctual tendencies that happen in the book. It shows the savagery that takes place as well as why its a theme in the first place. This is why its a main theme and how it plays a role through the entire book as the author once went through all that has happened in it.
