Theme Of Tell Your Heart To Beat Again

Though there are many themes in the song Tell Your Heart To Beat Again, the one that helps express the most important thing in life is that living can be hard. S2L3 says that the world makes you feel like you’re being covered by a shadow. However, the song doesn’t mean that something is constantly blocking you from the sun. Figuratively, the shadow stands for your hardships following you around such as; depression; pain; anger and frustration. This shows why the theme of the song is that life can be tough because maddening circumstances can create these problems that follow you around as a shadow. If you do decide to let go and forget about all the frustrating situations in life than your “shadow” can fall away and you can do the most important
thing in life - move on. Likewise, in S1L7-8 the author talks about how hard it is after a corrupt circumstance to be the person you once were before the event happened.
Inconveniently, this expresses the theme because the world makes life harsher by causing you to believe if you can’t go back to the person you once were then you can’t be happy again. Sadly, that is true because if you keep thinking that you can’t go back to your normal happy self - you won’t go back. However, this is why the most important thing in life is to move on. If you keep thinking about how a troubled situation made you unhappy - then you will stay unhappy; if you decide to move on then you at least have the possibility of being happy again. Lastly, S3L6 is an example of the theme. Darkness represents your depression, anger and frustration. Living can be tough because sometimes there are situations that will push you into “darkness”. However, if you dwell in your “darkness” - you will stay in your “darkness”. But if you choose to move on, which is important in life, you no longer covered in
“darkness”. Secondly, The tone of the song also supported that the most important thing in life is to move on.
Lyrically, the tone of Tell Your Heart To Beat Again was inspirational. For instance, in S5L6-7 “ In this moment heaven’s working everything for your good”. These two lines make the tone inspiring because even when you feel like you’re in a bad situation God has a plan for you and he could be using that bad situation to it turn into something good. It also proves how important it is in life to move on. If you focus on how everything is going bad and do nothing to fix it - the situation will stay bad. However, if you move on and trust that God is working everything for your good, then you have a chance of your situation turning out for the better. Another example of an inspiring tone is S6L5-6. The tone is inspiring in these lines because it says, “ Yesterday is a closing door you don’t live there anymore” meaning the past is the past and you no longer need to dwell in it. However, if you do choose to dwell in your past you are forced to “live in yesterday”, which is why, in life, it is important to move on. Lastly S3L4-5 also made the tone of Tell Your Heart To Beat Again inspiring. The words made the tone inspiring because it said that love’s hands have pulled you through and you can finally take your first step into recovery. Also, this made the tone inspiring because it showed that if you don’t get back up from the ground, then you can’t move on; proving that, in life, it
is critical to move on. Musically the tone of the song was depressing. The long and slow notes of the piano made the sad tone which helped express that the most important thing in life is to move on. Just like the depressing notes of the piano, life can also be depressing if you don’t decide to move on and forget about what makes you feel miserable. However, the tone of the song didn’t stay depressed once the drums joined in musical tone became more lightheaded. Similarly, in life, it’s crucial to move on because if you don’t – then you stay depressed, just like the musical tone was in the beginning of the song, - you will stay until you move on. If you do choose to move on then life will be carefree just like it was when the drums joined in the song.
