Theodore Roosevelt Leadership Traits
Leadership. Charisma. Wisdom. These are the traits that express one of the greatest presidents of the United States of America, Theodore Roosevelt. Roosevelt was a president, a soldier and naval strategist, a conservationist and hunter, to name a few. Theodore Roosevelt is the youngest person to ever hold office, he had also led a cavalry unit called the Rough Riders in the Spanish-American war. Theodore Roosevelt’s fascinating early life caused him to develop into one of the most influential presidents of the United States of America.
Theodore Roosevelt had a life filled with ups and downs, but all of these events shaped him into being one of the greatest presidents in US history.Theodore Roosevelt was born on October 27, 1858 in New York, NY. Roosevelt had a fairly large family, he was the second child of four (United States. National Park Service). At the age of 14 he receives his first shotgun, which leads him into his career of hunting. He then goes to study language in Germany with his brother Elliot, but returns to New York in the same year. In September of 1876-77 Roosevelt begins education at Harvard University (Miller Center). His legacy started when he started studying the naval aspects of the War of 1812. Roosevelt thrived to bring the navy to life, he wanted to show that the navy is just as useful and powerful as land warfare. While in Harvard he finished writing the book The Naval War of 1812 at the age of 24 (The Naval Strategist). This book had caught the attention of many people. including two important naval leaders and strategists, Rear Admiral Stephen B. Luce and Captain Alfred T. Mahan (The Naval Strategist).
