I have tremendously enjoyed my time this year in english 9 with you. Individually I have grown and developed in many areas, but I have also have areas that still need improvement. I believe that I have grown the most in understanding the main idea and theme of a story. In the beginning of the year I could tell you what the theme was, but writing out a thesis statement was not my strong suit. This is why I also created many strong thesis statements throughout the year. I believe that I wrote my best thesis in my Romeo and Juliet essay because my feedback was that I had a very strong, clear main idea. A strong thesis statement provided a strong base for the overall idea of my writing, but in a way caused trouble further down the road. I had trouble connecting my evidence pieces to my thesis statement. For example, in my TKM essay you gave me feedback that I should build more on my evidence pieces. Throughout the whole year I had trouble connecting my evidence pieces and links back to my thesis statement because the explanation is the piece that ties the story together as a whole. In English 9 we spend the whole year covering the topic of theme, but more specifically the topics of responsibility and identity. This has improved my writing by helping me fully grasp the idea of understanding and creating the idea of theme. This is showed in my writing in pieces like the Romeo and Juliet essay or the TKM essay. Throughout these pieces, and many others, I showed a clear explanation of the main idea through my
