Thoreau And Gandhi Similarities
Gandhi was a leader for indians in British but he ruled the Indian. Gandhi’s goal was to gain his people freedom. Gandhi led the Indians on the British and protested Britain's tax on salt. All Gandhi wanted was independence and peace , he didn’t want any conflict. Gandhi was killed on January 30th , 1948. Gandhi was murdered by a hinduist with 3 shots from close. The point of this essay is to share the similarities and the differences between Gandhi and Thoreau. Thoreau was the opposite of Gandhi , he believed in the government heavily. He believes that the British are right and they are making the right moves. He was thrown in jail in 1846 for not paying for his taxes during the Mexican War. He wouldn't pay it because he didn’t want to support
the Mexicans.
The reasons Gandhi and Thoreau were similar because they both didn’t want a war. Gandhi did everything he could to stop a war from happening by protesting peacefully. Thoreau didn’t pay the taxes by the Mexicans , not paying the taxes was against the war since they could use the money for their military. They’ve both been in prison before , Thoreau went to prison since he didn’t pay the taxes to help the war. Gandhi went to prison because he wouldn't register or leave so he was sentenced to two months in jail because of that.
