Three Branches of Government and System of Checks and Balences

There are three branches of the United States Government: Legislative, Executive, and Judicial. Each of these branches has distinct and necessary responsibilities in order for the government to function properly. There is also a System of Checks and Balances to make sure everything is equal and runs smoothly in society. The legislative branch consists of two bodies: the Senate and the House of Representatives. They are also known to be what makes up the Congress. The Most important responsibility of this branch is to write, debate, and to pass bills. Bills are then given to the president for his approval or veto. If the president gives his approval it becomes a law. If the president vetoes a bill, with two-thirds majority in both houses the Congress can override the veto. Congress can also rewrite a bill after it is vetoed to give it another chance for the president's approval. It can also investigate national issues, supervise, and provide a balance for the executive and judicial branches as well. The Congress has the authority to declare war, it also has the power to coin money and regulate interstate, foreign commerce, and trade. Congress also is responsible for maintaining the military even though the president is its commander-in-chief. The executive branch consists of the president, vice president, and the 15 Cabinet-level departments. The President is the primary power holder of this branch. He chooses his vice president and his Cabinet members who are the heads of the respective departments. The main function of the executive branch is to ensure that the laws are carried out and enforced to make day-to-day responsibilities of the federal government easier such as; collecting taxes, protecting our land, and representing the United States political and economic interests around the world.
