Three Little Pigs

The fairy tale text of the Three Little Pigs is adapted to an animated version of the Three Little Pigs. The main plot difference between the source text and the adaptation is the interaction between the pigs and the wolf. In the text version, the wolf ate up the first and second pigs. For the third pig, wolf makes three suggestions and makes a promise with the third pig to meet at the location he picks. However, in the animated version, the wolf does not eat up the first and second pigs. First and second pigs were able to escape from their house to the third pig house. Also, the wolf does not make any suggestions with the third pigs. Lastly, in the text, after the little pig boiled the wolf, the little pig ate him for supper, but in the animated
version, it does not mention that the three little pigs ate wolf. These changes contribute to understanding the text differently where there is no violence. The violence of the first and second pigs dying and eating the wolf at the end can give fear in reading the text. It can be too much for the younger children to take in the violence in the text. Also, understanding the moral of the book can be different. For the text version, I can learn the independence and cleverness in doing work brings success like the third pigs. In the animated version, even though third pig mostly did the hard work, there is a sense of togetherness as siblings to overcome the dangerous situation. It is significant in analyzing the characteristics of the wolf in the different aspect. In the text version, wolf tries to think and come up with his own strategies to get the third pig, but the animated version of the wolf portrays as stupid and lazy wolf to just sit outside of the house.
