Time Management
What major personal, professional, or academic obstacles do you have to overcome to be successful in school? What are some ways you might work around these challenges?

The obstacles I will have to overcome to be successful in school are mostly personal. I have so much to do in my personal and professional life and it’s mostly because I don’t want to let other people down.
I believe I will have to find the ability to say “no” to the people in my life when they ask or expect me to do so much that I don’t have time for my assignments. Learning how to overcome that obstacle will lead me in the right direction as it ties in with my professional obstacles as well. I will have to learn to tell my supervisors that I can’t work overtime if I have homework to complete or a class to attend.

What are two specific time-management strategies you can use to help maximize your time during this class and reach your educational goals?

One specific time-management strategy would be to make a personal study calendar and stick to it. Put specific study times on certain days and stick to them. Such as, Mondays and Wednesdays study from 6pm-8pm.

Another time-management strategy is to prioritize assignments. Start with the assignments that count for more of your grade, because let’s face it, life happens and you don’t want to miss out on a paper that counts for 25% of your grade when the only other thing you’ve completed is an assignment that counts for

Winston Churchill said, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal; it is the courage to continue that counts.” You are not guaranteed to be successful so you must work hard to succeed. If you happen to fall along the way, get back up and try again; failure won’t kill you, it will only make you stronger. What counts the most is that you continue to do your absolute best even though there may be obstacles in your way. This can be seen in each of articles I read as well as in my own experience. Each person in the articles, and myself have had some sort of obstacle to overcome when it came to our education but we never gave up until we were where we wanted or needed to be. If we want to be successful and get a good education we must have determination, encouragement, and fulfillment.…

The biggest obstacle I have overcame in my life was attending college at a four-year school. While my family had a decent income, some spending decisions and my parent’s desire for me to “make it on my own” meant I had to pay for whatever education I acquired on my own. This was made more difficult because their income disqualified me from multiple scholarships. Another problem was that the quality of education offered by my local schools was not very high. We weren’t offered AP classes and had to take almost identical classes since the school just couldn’t afford to offer much else. These classes often lagged far behind most standards anyway because many students in the class had no interest in learning or their quality of education up…
