Timmy Research Paper
For the yearly success story many students come to mind since they are all successful in my eyes. However, since I must pick one it would will have to be Timmy. Timmy has been with the Patrick Miller Program since 2014 and I have had the pleasure of watching him grow into an incredible human being. He is currently in 10th grade at Pittsfield High School and has an old soul well beyond his current 16 year old status.
When first meeting Timmy he presented as being resistant to the program since he had never met me before and struggled with attachment issues from the death of his father. His father died from melanoma when Timmy was eight. This left Timmy in a vulnerable and depressed state of mind. His mother and older sister would comfort him as much as possible from the loss yet it was

During this past school year he has found a love for himself and enjoys his own company. It is not considered being alone because his self-awareness increased and he knows he is at a good place in life. Timmy has also found new friends and he continues to motivate his old friends to quit using substances as he has. His grades have increased with a new love for environmental science and was asked to be in the AP honors class. His future aspirations are to continue learning about how to help the environment and also a future glass blower. The possibilities are endless for Timmy since he was able to open up new door ways for himself without being told what to do. His creativity levels are endless. This is what helps the world become a better place. The children with trauma have the ability to overcome the obstacles to become the healers of the world- the mover and the shakers. The Patrick Miller Program walks along side, guides, and promotes personal growth at a level the students are ready for and to assist them on their life

Curious and eager to know about it, he travelled all the way from L.A. to Las Vegas just to connect every detail he had acquired from those affected by the movement. When he had finally reached the person responsible for all these events, he was quite shocked to know that it was an idea of a 7th grader. With all due respect, he interviewed Trevor, asked him all about this “pay it forward” project. Once everything had been cleared, a sudden turn of events occurred. When Trevor was about to leave the school grounds, he managed to save the life of a bullied classmate. Unfortunately, he was not able to safe his own. Thousands had mourned for the death of a…

Evan was eight now. Nothing was going well for him. He just didn’t get anything. This was his third time in the first grade! In Puerto Rico, where we used to live, we had a special children’s class for kids who didn’t understand things as well. My parents died of illegal drugs so I’m supposed to be in an orphanage with my brother, but mom and dad were always high anyway. I was used to caring for my family by then. Even when I was little I was the responsible adult in the family. So I was the one to go and talk to the school about it. They said that the school couldn’t afford a class like that. But I kept trying to help my brother. He may’ve seemed dull and a nuisance to some people, but to me, and anyone else who understands him, he is just a sweet, caring, polite little kid trying to have some fun.…

I never imagined a seven-year would have such a huge impact in my life, without him I would be a lost person living in this dark pit with no one. He may not understand the situation, but his innocence of not knowing allows me to become a part of the innocence that was never a part of my life. I have become a more compassionate person because I realized that I need to show him the support he gave me and help him in any situation. The process is still ongoing with the ups and the downs, but the space where the happiness was once empty is starting to fill. I can always count on my brother to put a smile on my face even if it is for the simplest things. My brother’s impact has made me want to become a therapist to help other children who may find themselves in a similar situation and give them the compassion and attention that I didn’t have for the longest…
