After gathering information and compiling your notes, you need to put together a works-cited page.
This page provides information about the articles and other sources you used to write your comparison, including the article title, author 's name, web address or page numbers, and more. While you must provide the works-cited page at the end of your paper, it is also important to give credit within the paper for thoughts and words that are not your own. Using text support for your opinion is important, and giving credit to the sources from which you acquired that support is just as important. You will use MLA (Modern Language Association) parenthetical citations to credit your sources within your paper. Take a look at the example below. This shows a parenthetical citation used at the end of a fact taken from a print
source:
Example:
Research shows that a quarter of diets fall by the wayside within two weeks (Sheehan 132).
The parentheses at the end of the sentence provide a citation showing the author 's last name and page number where this idea can be found within the article. Because you will find most of your sources on the Internet, you will not have page numbers. Instead, you can use the author 's last name in conjunction with paragraph, section, or screen numbers if they are provided. If those are not provided, simply list the author 's last name. Remember, the citation goes before the period at the end of the sentence.
Example:
While academic articles are important, most will only be read by a few thousand people (Leigh).
