Being a Ewell is like being in a boundless nightmare that you can never wake up from no matter how hard you try. No money, no education, and no hope for a better life. We know our lives are gruesome, still my older sister Mayella tries to shield my younger siblings and I from all the distress in our lives, but we already perceive that we are the bottom of the social hierarchy, and considered the “white trash” of Maycomb. The sole thing we have going for us is our skin color, but even black people pity us. Furthermore, Mayella and daddy want to build a better life for us. However, everytime time we get a small bit of money, my dad drinks it up and consequently we end up broke again. Daddy’s drinking does things to him, makes him do things he would never imagine. Consequently, If we are lucky, we get to take a bath once a year. Which explains why our family is crawling with lice and a toilet is probably cmore clean than one of us. I dream about one day being able to take a shower or wash my hands whenever I want, I am a clean person but that is just one of the astronomical things you have to sacrifice being a Ewell. I wish that I could do something to give us a better life, like win the lottery or get a well paying job, I may only be a kid, but I have many skills that could be put to work like cleaning, or cooking.
