Atticus is a Christ like character because he is loving to his kids, Jem and Scout. This is just like Jesus He loves us and we are his children. This bible verse talks about how much Jesus loved us. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (New International Version, John 3:16) This verse explains us that Jesus loved us so much that he died, so we can get salvation. "Come here, Scout," said Atticus. I crawled into his lap and tucked my head under his chin. He put his arms around me and rocked me gently. “Atticus is a great father and a trait that represents him with his children is that he loves Jem and Scout a bunch.

compassion he has for us. In this verses of the story “Jesus feeds the five thousand” we can see that Jesus is compassionate to his followers. “When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things... By this time it was late in the day, so his disciples came to him. .”(New international Version Mark 6:30-35) Jesus could've left them alone and not talk to them about God and tell parables, but He didn't. Jesus taught them until it was dark, and this is a huge act of compassion. In this quote from chapter 23 we can see how Atticus is compassionate even to the worst characters in the book. “"Jem, see if you can stand in Bob Ewell's shoes a minute. I destroyed his last shred of credibility at that trial, if he had any to begin with. So if spitting in my face and threatening me saved Mayella Ewell one extra beating, that's something I'll gladly take.” (pg 218) Although Atticus dislikes Bob Ewell because he beats up Mayella and blamed an innocent man he still feels compassion of how his life is going to be.
Throughout Mockingbird Atticus shows us that he is a great father.
One of the characteristics that most show of him is that his caring. There are many quotes of him being caring to his children, but this is one of the best examples I found. “What are you doing with those scissors ... Give me those scissors," Atticus said. "They're no things to play with." In these quotes Atticus is worried that Jem might get hurt with scissors, so he takes it from them so Jem doesn't get injured. In the bible there's a ton of example of Jesus being caring to us, his children. This bible verse is from the story “Jesus calms the storm”. “He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.” (NIV Mark 4:39) Jesus shows that He is caring for his
child.
