Why does our surrounding matter depending on what we want to be or who we want to be? The character is saying that wherever we are, weather if it's school, work, or even at home we are still being surround. That leads to those people changing our lives in many different ways, physically and emotionally. No one will really know what's going to happen tomorrow, next week, or even next month. Overall if we want to find out what we want to be or who we want to be, we have to figure out the people around us first to able to know ourselves better.
This story of “To Kill a Mockingbird” shows us that we surround ourselves with are very important because those people can make a big influence in our lives. For example, when Scout was younger she was very innocent, and Atticus was kind of like her guide me since he taught her many things like keeping her fist down because fighting doesn't get you anywhere. In Chapter 14, pg. 135 when they were talking about “rape” situation on who did it, or what that situation was going to lead to. At that moment Scout spoke up to as Atticus “What’s rape? I asked him that night” that kind of spoke out as if she wasn't so surrounded by these type of people who blames one another because of color, she wouldn't …show more content…
even ask what “rape” was in the first place. In this neighborhood people are criticizing one another because of their color, and lots of harassing comment and actions goes around. As Scout gets older that innocence in her will be gone if that's all she's being surrounded by, but since Atticus is a great guidance he will be able to give the kids great advices on how to be polite and respect one another pg. 314 “I’m sorry if I spoke sharply…”
Atticus was just a really great influence on the kids because it's not just how he acts or his manners, but it's also because he fought for what was right.
He setted great examples of what is right and wrong towards the kids. That’s the type of influence that the kids will need in their life if Maycomb is going to stay as what it is now.
The people that you surround yourself is very important because they will leave a big effect in your life as you make decisions that you'll make in the future, and that effects on who you are and what you want to be as well. That’s why getting to know the people around you first will make it easier for you to figure out who you will be or want to be in the near
future.
