To What Extent Is The Right Type Of Government In Animal Farm By George Orwell
Is a democracy the right type of government ?
In George Orwell's novella Animal Farm, the author uses animals to critique the Soviet Union, Animal Farm is an allegory of the Soviet Union. The farm is controlled by a tyrant man Mr. Jones, and the animals are tired of working for him without any form of salary. Before his death Old Major the most powerful animal on the farm organize a big meeting to tell the animals what he’s thinking about the current situation, he’s telling them to revolt and to take control of the farm. The next day all the animals are planning the revolution, they chase Mr. Jones away and install Animalism which is Communism. My thesis is what are the differents types of government and why the animals chose Communism. In this paragraph I will be comparing there similarities between Communism and dictatorship. For example this quote is from the book “Four legs good, two legs better! All Animals Are Equal. But Some Animals Are More Equal Than Others.” This quote doesn’t really make sense because if some animals are more equal than others they are not equal and I think that this is the problem with Communism it's impossible to be totally equal. In dictatorship you do as you are told and I think that in Communism it’s the same thing because in the book Snowball is chased from the farm by Napoleon. I think that Napoleon is a dictator because he’s using violence to control the animals like in a dictatorship

    * Animal Farm becoming a republic parallels how Soviet Russia claimed to be a republic. In a true republic people elect officials that make decisions for the country, but in Russia Stalin was the only candidate, therefore there was no real choice. Russia was really a totalitarian government. The government controlled what the people did instead of the other way around.…

Animal Farm is the account of a fictional farm under the tyrannical ownership of Farmer Jones. The animals reach breaking point, and start a revolution against the tyranny of man. The revolution starts off to better the situation and the animals are happy with what they have. But over time, the pigs become most powerful animals on the farm. They turn the farm from a free democratic state into a communist state. The pigs then state that “All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others”. As the book is actually a satirical commentary, it has a direct analogy to society. In Animal Farm’s case, it is the…

Squealer says threatenly, “Surely none of you wishes to see Jones back?”(49). Just the short mention of Farmer Jones, scares the animals back to the realization that they never ever want to see Jones again. When they think of Jones, they think of the terribly cruel working/living conditions they experienced on the farm when he was in charge. For example, how Jones constantly forgot to clean their stalls and cheating the animals of all their hard work such as stealing the chickens’ eggs. The animals would do absolutely anything if they knew it meant never having to go back to this oppressive way of life.…

This Animal Farm and its authoritarian leader facilitate a severely unethical environment, wherein law changing for one's personal benefit and conversing with the enemy is perfectly fine. Animals are chosen to portray humans in this narrative because during the Russian Revolution "leaders" performed unspeakable acts; acts that people would and should never even think about doing to their fellow man. Napoleon and his minion pig, Squealer successfully replicate these acts by manipulating the lesser intelligent animals to believe in Napoleon's superiority. Secretly both the ladder and former have worked together to become an oppressive, sorry excuse for a government institution to extremely hardworking. Napoleon eventually strays very far from the base idea that all animals are equal which was established by the wisest of the pigs. The makeshift Stalin says, "...all animals are created equal, but some animals are more equal than others."(Orwell…

Although Animal Farm by George Orwell is based on the Manor Farm according to the animal’s point of view, this book symbolizes Communism in countries such as Russia. This novel put Communism in a perspective that allowed many people to see the contradictions of this governing system; many ideas were twisted and only made sense to those that it benefited. Animal Farm explores the concepts of Communism in a unique and intriguing manner using personification of regular farm animals to represent communists and their inconsistent rules and beliefs.…

Rebellion is a new hope for many, but a corrupt leader may change the definition of freedom overtime. A leader would make everyone believe in them and when are right, but slowly change into a power hungry ruler. Many counties have experience with this kind of rulers such as the Costa Rica or Russia, who took over at the country’s weakest time. George Orwell, Eric Arthur Blair, writes Animal Farm based on the Russian Rebellion that happened in 1917. As Russia rebels, the rebellion leaders slowly took power and changes the aspect of their rebellion. Our society reflects upon freedom and our choices, rulers may not affect us in the same way as they would in a monarchy or dictatorship. Our leader is chosen by us while in Animal Farm, their leader, Napoleon is chosen by him gaining power and fear over the animals and being automatically chosen for power since no one else to opposes him. Leadership in this book is chosen by corrupt power and fear over the animals which isn’t reflected in the leaders in our society and community, but is recognized in places by leaders before.…

Jones has committed. First of all Mr. Jones whips and abuses the farm animals. When the animals first started the rebellion, the animals got into the place where all the is and started eating all the food. When Mr. Jones found out what was going on he started to whip the animals. “The next moment he and his four men were in the store-shed with whips in their hands, lashing out in all directions.” (Orwell, 12) This is an obvious violent act he has committed. It was his fault that the animals did this. Mr. Jones forgot to feed the animals multiple times so something was bond to happen. Also whipping the animals wasn’t the only option he had. He could have done something else to prevent the animals from eating the food. The animals suffered to a point to where they had to take action. This was more then the animals could bare and as of result he got kicked off the farm. Another instance that prove the acts of violence throughout the book is another act Mr. Jones did. During the battle of cowshed the animals and humans fought. Mr. Jones shot a sheep and injured Snowball. The animals were strategically prepared and the humans were losing. “Jones saw him coming, raised his gun and fired. The pellets scored bloody streaks along Snowball's back, and a sheep dropped dead.” (Orwell, 27) To get back what Mr. Jones lost he got people to aid him fight the animals. So first it was sort of like a war. But to make things worse…

George Orwell's allegorical novel, ‘Animal Farm' addresses many notions involved in the Russian Revolution, a catastrophic failure in the eyes of the world. A dictatorship set up in the stead of communism, an endless stream of lies and propaganda, as well as political agenda that had saturated the Soviet. It retells of the emergence and development of Soviet communism in a fable form; ‘Animal Farm' allegorizes the rise of power of the dictator, Joseph Stalin and the revolution started by the people of Russia, which, in the end, destroyed and betrayed the people of Russia. In the novel, the overthrow of Jones by a [democratic?] coalition of animals, gives way to the consolidation of just about absolute power among the pigs. The pigs in ‘Animal Farm', namely Napoleon, Squealer, and to a small extent, Snowball, establish themselves as the ruling class, the same way the intelligentsia of Russia began to dictate the revolutionists, thus corrupting and further more, misusing and abusing the socialist ideals of the Soviet Union.…
