Tone deals with the way a person voices his or her statements. It shifts according to the situation we’re in and the people or audience we target. When communicating with others, the tone of voice one person uses can affect the atmosphere of the conversation. It can either be a positive or negative tone depending on what the topic may be about. Tone is used whenever we speak to people so that they understand what we’re feeling and vice versa. Writing narratives or other types of stories, authors use tone and it should be correctly used in order to convey the message they want for their readers.
We may have heard our parents say to us, “Hey, watch your tone of voice.” Whenever I talk to my mom, it is best to respond in a respectful way due to the authority she has over me.
