1. Why is there a new or renewed interest in the field of project management?
Project management is very important for a good business because it provides the project managers to aim for the success of the project. The computer hardware, software and networks have radically changed the work environment. Timing is the important factor in the business. More than 16 million people regard project management as their profession.
The project management statistics shows the following:
In the U.S. the size of the IT workforce topped 4 million workers for the first time in 2008
In 2007 the total compensation for the average senior project manager in U.S. dollars was
$104,776 per year in the United States, $111,412 in Australia, and $120,364 in the United
Kingdom.
However the project managers can be involved in many works. It helps them in learning the rules of the business and also improves their knowledge.
2. What is a project, and what are its main attributes? How is a project different from what most people do in their day-to-day jobs?
A project is a goal or objective of an individual or a group of people to accomplish a task within the specified time.
The main attributes of the project are:
Scope, Cost and Time are the triple constraints of the project.
The beginning and the ending date of the project.
Identifying the common risks in the project.
The design and requirement stating the details of the goal.
Sponsor and stake holders.
A list of what will be done by whom.
The project manager should manage the project team.
Project manager should also tracks and records the progress of the project.
Projects are different from day to day activities because of the beginning and ending dates of the project. The projects have a focused goal. The projects end only when the
