Traditional Colleges Benefits

Do you want money? If so, don’t go to college because you will be spending the next 10-20 years of your life paying off your student debt, stressing out and eating Ramen noodles every day. This is the dilemma that most high school graduates face: get a job with a high school diploma, invest in college and hope to get a better job with a college degree, go to trade school, join the military, or hope to God that your YouTube videos go viral and make you famous. Most students pick the college route, thinking that college graduates get better paying jobs, most of the time they do, but there are jobs, such as trade jobs, that require less education with great pay. However, traditional colleges are very important for some people and for others, it
is a waste of time, it all depends on one’s priorities. In my opinion, college is a place where one decides on his/her likes and dislikes, decisions that will lead one to a “professional” or “white collar” career, such as a teacher, doctor, or lawyer. To pursue these career goals, one has a great deal of responsibilities, studying, attending class, etc., these responsibilities dictate a students’ level of success while in college. Some students can’t handle these responsibilities and hate college in general, so college might not serve a purpose for them. However, I believe that college is an important stepping stone for me to achieve my goal in life of becoming a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.).
