The family is the foundation of our society. This is where we learn the important elements that we face in our lives, as well as difficulties, ways of life and manners. All we know since we are small we have learned within the family. It is impressive to see how the family has evolved as the years have passed. The traditional family has declined over time and modern families have taken place. I think families have changed for better, because now woman have equality and can do what the men do, we are no longer required to stay home with the kids. Woman can now get a job and help support the family. “The Family in Society” by Wan L. Lam says, “The traditional family structure no longer exists in the modern world. It’s not surprising that the modern family structure has replaced it.” In past times it was common to see traditional families, composed by father, mother and children, a large number of children, where the man had all the power, action and decisions. Women were in charge of all the housework and childcare while the man had to work. To provide for the family the greatest man of the family was the leader and who had the power and decisions. The years pass and with them the cultures and lifestyles have changed .The traditional family that was dominated for many years now became modern family. This type of family with freedom and equalities. In modern families women are strong and can do jobs that men do and where men care for children and help with housework.
The modern family these days must deal with a complex world of long hours at work, financial problems, responsibilities and diseases. All this requires a union where parents share household livelihoods, but also the parenting and housework. This help woman to be an important part in society.
