their families by force. The intention might end well with the citizens of America, but it won’t be a benefit to those who no longer can live where they came from. It would be dreadful to be in the shoes of a Native American and feel how it was like to be forced by government officials to move from their home to please a country that took it away from them without permission. To see and hear how the Native Americans were on foot with their personal belongings, walking with baskets on their arms, singing peaceful songs while crying, and wagons filled with their family members. It’s unfair to those who didn’t deserve to relocate just for a person who opposes their race. During the Trail of Tears, many of the Native Americans didn’t make it to their destination due to death and sickness from harsh weather conditions from the north.
As the government was forcing more tribes to move west, the government didn’t give food nor the supplies to these people and expected them to go migrate by foot. This removal was cruel and an uncivilized to the Native Americans that did no harm to the U.S. territory nor to the society. The Trail of Tears has been a racist act since the reason behind the idea was to get rid of all Indian tribes in U.S. territory and not allowing them back. Picturing the way the Native Americans couldn’t do anything about the Jackson’s order due to no rights to defend themselves, makes my blood boil how nothing could stop the government from taking their land without a warning. And seeing the thousands of people walking miles way to Oklahoma with horses and grief. Existing in that situation of having no rights nor freedom is like living like a slave, being forced to do what the owner orders, and get brutal punishments if they disobey an
order. Overall, history is the beginning of the story of our world, the reason behind our present and future. The Trail of Tears was an underrated time in American History that was a major event for the Native Americans that had to move from their native and sacred home of concealed culture. The Indian removal was an unfair law that made me realize that the reason behind the disappearance of the culture of the Native Americans as we know is because the government trying to it clear away for good to make this country to be only one race, one society. Being in this situation in history would make one realize that a piece of land is home to all, not just for one.
