Training Program Brunt
1.0 Case Overview
Brunt Hotels, PLC, owns more than 60 hotels throughout the United Kingdom. They recently acquired a small hotel chain headquartered in France. Brunt’s chief executive decided that half of the new hotels in France would be retained and rebranded as part of the Brunt Hotels Group; the other half will be sold. This will support Brunt’s strategic objective of growing the organization slowly to make sure that new ventures are well supported and opened on time and on budget. Brunt’s hotels are considered budget accommodations; they are functional, clean and reasonably priced.
From the first round of recruitment, the management hires six candidates to work overseas because they did not feel that the other candidates were qualified. They feel confident that these six can successfully open the new hotels. The success of these managers is vital to the success of setting up the new business, so management wants to ensure they provide effective support for them in terms of training and development. They believe that the best option is to divide training into two parts: pre-departure training and on-the-job training in the new country.
Since the organization has never sent employees abroad before, they are not sure about what should be included in these training programmes. The only mandatory area that must be included is an introductory language section (including basic business French) so that the managers have a basic grasp of the French language by the time they open the new hotels. However, they hope that the managers will enjoy their introductory language course and will continue to attend more advanced language classes when the new hotels are open.
The proposed training programme is considered to be useful and informative for the new expatriates. However, they would also like to provide external support for the new expatriates to make their transition to a new country as smooth as possible. They are aware of some of the services that can be offered

“The essence of being human is that one does not seek perfection,” stated by the British author, George Orwell. Everyone should understand that perfection is unachievable; therefore, humans carry various flaws. William Shakespeare demonstrates this in the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet where although Romeo is the tragic hero, he also shows an excessive amount of tragic flaws that bring him down throughout the play. One of the flaws that he carries is falling in love too quickly and deeply. In another flaw, he shows his impulsiveness. His last tragic flaw illustrates how naïve he is to believe in fate.…

North east Italy is encompassed, beautifully encompassed the Alps, covering 100 square kilometers, and has one other hotel, Villa Feltrinelli, a twenty-one room hotel that overlooks Lake Garda. The hotel chain is on prime high euro real estate, and will not be available for long. Reports that the hotel properties were in a state of dilapidation may have had some effect on the hotel chain’s senior management to reach out to interested hotel chains owners for assistance in order to salvage their business. After watching the property’s earnings closely for many years, I do not understand why improvements were not made; as the hotel has always tuned profits and the CEO never demonstrated lack of accountability. The marketing team has consulted with our technology solution department to modify into the design plans for the newly merged hotel chain (once approved), smart room technology features such as those in our stateside hotels. European vacationers will select from one of three classical floor plans, all includes beds encased with luxury linens. Customers will select from choices of glass, eclectic, or painted furniture layouts; providing business travelers’ in-room suites, allowing them to entertain small groups of up to seven individuals. Our team is in agreement that we should haste to complete this merger and take the necessary steps for entering into a partnership with the company before offers are received from other hotel chains.…

Any major organization operating internationally could rely entirely on staff recruited locally. Most do so for the majority of positions. However, most companies also employ expatriates, those who work outside their country of origin, for a variety of reasons. In some cases, these workers fill skill gaps when local staff is unavailable; in other cases, they may be sent to train local staff or to install companywide systems in areas like IT and finance. Some may be sent on developmental assignments to gain skills and experience at an early stage of their careers. Increasingly, part of the motivation is to ensure that the company’s future top-management cadre has some international experience.…
